In an interview with Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma, he discussed the upcoming Link to the Past successor.
Announced during Nintendo Direct last month, the game will be the direct sequel to the 1992 SNES classic A Link to the Past.
Despite being set in the same universe, Aonuma is adamant that "it certainly feels different from our point of view". With a clean slate on Nintendo 3DS, Ocarina of Time remake aside, the team designed to bring back the top-down view of Legend of Zelda games of old.
Just one of those changes is the new "paper Link" mechanic, where our hero can turn into a flat drawing, cling onto walls and navigate the world differently. The inspiration? Phantom Ganon, a boss in Ocarina of Time. "What if Link could have the same power?"
As for the 3D effect, the Zelda producer feels players will enjoy the experience with or without 3D turned on but feels that players should give it a go for the "intended experience".
Aonuma also confirmed that the Dark World, a staple feature of the original SNES game, will return.
