Solid Start for Mario & Luigi: Dream Team in Japan on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The latest Japanese software and hardware sales show a solid debut weekend for Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.

Developed by AlphaDream and receiving brilliant reviews across the board, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team had an exceptional start since launching in Japan on 18th July. In the first four days on sale, the latest chapter in the Mario & Luigi series was just shy of reaching the much sought after 100k mark with 99.972 units sold.

Other titles in the top ten include Level-5's Youkai Watch, Pikmin 3, Friend Collection: New Life, New Super Luigi U and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D.

Hardware reflected the strong software sales with Nintendo 3DS tallying up 57,025 units sold  during last week, plus Wii U pushing through with 14,280 units sold - dipping back down from a previously improved week.

And this may not be true but some are suggesting the Wii U has passed 1mil in Japan;

Same length of time it took PS3, if true. Not the most hopeful scenario since the PS3's opening years were hardly amazing, but the console turned out well.
