Guardians of the Galaxy (UK Rating: 12A)

Multiple trailers for upcoming films are nothing new, yet the ones for Marvel's forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy could almost be for two different films. First came the serious one, full of action and heroic intentions and without a smidgeon of humour. Then there's the most recent and extended one, which is a whole different ball game. The action and heroism are still there but this time the humour is out in force and it includes a great exchange between Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and the rest of his team - while the verbally challenged Groot (Vin Diesel) munches on what can best be described as home-grown shoots.

This one gives a good look at all the characters as well, plus a taste of the awesome retro soundtrack, but it doesn't give much of the story away. Word is that the film actually doesn't take itself too seriously, so this is probably the trailer to go for. The cast also includes Zoe Saldana, Glenn Close with an intricate hair-do, John C. Reilly, and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon - who, judging from the trailer, suffers from badly fitting trousers.

Guardians of the Galaxy is released on 31st July, certificate 12A, so audiences will soon discover what it's all about and how funny - or serious - it really is. Oh, and by way of getting in the mood, the soundtrack is available on the 29th July.
