Nintendo has confirmed first-half net profits of $132 million / 4.3 billion Yen.
The company posted figures of 14.3 billion Yen between April and September 2014, an increase of 12.8% from the same period a year ago. Revenue figures for Nintendo are at 171.3 billion Yen for the period.
Operating loss was 215 million yen, down from 23.3 billion yen during the previous year, and the lowest operating loss since 2011.
Despite the increasing figures, Nintendo has kept its 20 billion Yen full fiscal year profit forecast figure intact.
As for hardware figures, Nintendo sold 1.12 million Wii U consoles, bringing the system up to 7.29 million units (lifetime). In terms of software, 9.4 million units were shifted, bringing lifetime Wii U software figures to 41.67 million.
On the portable side, Nintendo sold 2.09 million units of the Nintendo 3DS, with lifetime figures now sitting comfortably at 45.42 million units. 23.3 million units of 3DS software were sold, bringing lifetime figures to 186.22 units.
Reasons for the improvement in Nintendo's fortunes were due to cost reductions, stronger than expected US currency, staff restructuring and improvements with the Wii U's performance.
