Nintendo miss targets

By James Temperton 07.04.2003 1

Nintendo still have work to do...
There was little Nintendo could say to make things better as they missed their targets for sales of the GameCube by 4.4 million units. The orginal estimate made by the company was a rather large 10 million, but they failed to make this, shifting only 5.6 million in the first part of the year. Despite high profile releases such as Metroid Prime and Zelda, it would appear that Nintendo still has some catch up to do.

Elsewhere, figures for the GBA were much higher than expected as the handheld became one of the most succesful consoles over the Christmas period worldwide. The pocket sized wonder has sold 15.7 million units so far this term. The money is still flowing in for Nintendo, but thank god for their handheld dominance!
