Nintendo News | US GameCube Price Drop Soon?

By Adam Riley 30.04.2006 20

Quick News - As reported on Gamespot, an EB Games employee has tipped them off about new marketing plans that have the GameCube tagged with the line 'New Low Price'. Already at $99, this could be in response to the new PS2 drop to $129.

Stick with C3 to see if this proves true and if it crosses to Europe...

well its noty as if anyone buys it anyway, they need to market the hell out of it when LOZ:TP comes out, if that will be relased on gamecube at all (which is becoming more and more doubtful) But if people could get across the fact that the gamecube is eteer technology than the ps2, and stillc heaper, then we copuld satrt a campaign dissing the overpriced and unreliable ps2!!! neway, i sure hope so

So this is coming for the May period, but no firm price confirmed. Will it drop to as low as $79 or will it simply be a new bundle for the same price of $99? The details appear to be extremely vague at the moment, but at least Nintendo is trying to remain slightly competitive. After all, with games like Odama, Chibi Robo and Harvest Moon out now, plus a new Xmen and Tom Clancy game on the way, plus a few other 3rd Party surprises, there's potential to sell through another half million units in the US this year is pushed enough...

On ebay for

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Well at Christmas in the US it was out-selling the XBOX 360 and XBOX...Now it's dropped down to just below the XBOX again, but there's still a strong market in the US.

Sonic Riders has been advertised over there as basically a GC exclusive, so whilst the PS2 and XBOX versions bombed, the GC game cracked the Top 15 in last month's US chart. The same is true in Europe, where Sonic Riders GC has had stronger staying power than the other versions.

Aiming at the right market sector works...It'll be interesting, in this respect, how Super Monkey Ball Adventure does. After all, SMB and SMB2 have both done better on the GC than SMB Deluxe did on PS2/XBOX...

The only GCs you see in the 0.0002 shops that still stock it are the pearl white Mario footy bundles.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

GAME here in the heart of Manchester is rapidly ditching all its old stock. The only game being pushed is Sonic Riders, clearly because the other formats' version aren't doing as well as expected.

Donkey Konga and a GC is

I'm under the impression that they'll drop the price now, release LOZ:TP a month before the Wii and have a Limited GC bundle.

Not to be negative, but i think Nintendo know this is the absolute last throw of the GC dice. Why not try it on with the biggest GC title available?

The N64 RRP went down to

Hehe, expect to see lots of scams on ebay once Wii is released...you just might get something else! Wiiiiiiiiiiii...

I see no reason NOT to drop the price by $20 or so, unless Nintendo feel that they won't make profit on it Smilie

Mason i'd buy that just for the sake of it..

Believe me, I'm considering it...

There was once a deal at argos agamecube with donkey konga

There's allways a deal on eBay for a Gamecube for
