MTV have announced two new awards that bring video gaming into the music scene: Best Video Game Soundtrack and Best Video Game Score, with viewers and readers casting their votes for the first ever video game related Video Music Awards. Have any Nintendo titles made the cut?

For the 2006 awards, a key title in the music/gaming scene, the unique DS software Electroplankton has been nominated for the Best Video Game Score award.

Best Video Game Score
Hitman: Blood Money (Jesper Kyd)
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (Tom Salta)
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey (Leon Willett and Even 'Magnet' Johansen)
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Jeremy Soule and Julian Soule)
Electroplankton (User Generated Soundtrack)

Best Video Game Soundtrack
Fight Night Round 3
Burnout Revenge
NBA 2K6
Driver: Parallel Lines
Marc Ecko's Getting Up

Voting and samples can be found here.

Stay...tuned... for future updates (that was poor - ed).

Voting for Electropankton could gave the game a welcome boost in sales as it so deserves

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

Dude... awesome

Hence it says 'user generated soundtrack'. You generate the soundtrack from the samples provided on most of them, so I think it's a valid entry. Certainly got my vote. Smilie

Oh woops, didn't read the whole line. I just saw names beside the games and just stopped looking at the brackets after Ghost Recon.

Hmm- never touched this game (or used a d-pad on it, for that matter) but good to hear anything nintendo being promoted.
