Nintendo Rumour | Wii Virtual Console Launch List

With the official Wii details just a stones throw away, various websites have poster their hit boosting insider information, and today comes a rumoured list of what's said to be the Wii's virtual console launch line-up for this fall.

Gaming website Play-Nintendo have received a list from a trustworthy source of the games available for players to download on Nintendo's online Virtual Console system. The system encapsulates over 20 years of classic Nintendo (and Sega) gaming for fans to experience the action once more.

The source supposedly knows of the following list rumoured to hit the Wii at launch:

  1. Bonk's Adventure
  2. Castlevania
  3. Duck Hunt
  4. Excitebike
  5. F-Zero
  6. Kid Icarus
  7. Legend of Zelda
  8. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  9. Mario Kart 64
  10. Metroid
  11. Mortal Kombat
  12. New Adventure Island
  13. Ninja Gaiden
  14. OutRun
  15. Pac-Man
  16. Prince of Persia
  17. Punch-Out!!
  18. R-Type
  19. Rayman 2
  20. Sonic the Hedgehog
  21. Star Fox
  22. Super Mario 64
  23. Super Mario Bros
  24. Super Mario Kart
  25. Super Mario World
  26. Tecmo Bowl

The list certainly has a fairly strong line-up of titles, from the big hitters

Well I don't know about you, but I was expecting WAY more than that, even at launch... 26 seems like they don't really care...

I think they'll probably release these titles, if the list is that short, in small bursts.

We'd have to wait, and get excited for the "re-release" of certain games I reckon, that or they come bundled with certain sequels.

Fairly small list but a good one. No Super Metroid?

Does RARE have some sort of lisense over their games? I thought Nintendo still owned all the Kong characters and Banjo. I would've expected Banjo-Kazooie and at least one Donkey Kong game.

I think the list seems good, even if it is a bit short and missing a few excellent games, but I doubt it is going to be what is actually available on the Virtual Console when the Wii launches.

I really wonder what the 5 new titles are going to be like.

It seems like a decent selection of titles, since it mostly consists of the original of a series and then maybe a sequel. Not just filling it with a whole series and having no variety.

I need both Banjo games on this console. And basically all the rest of RARE's games.

The list is crap but that's not really unexpected, I wouldn't have expected them to throw all the games out there at once. 26 is a bit of a random number though, but whatever floats that sources boat.

When Zelda:MM is on there I'll be happy, what's the betting OoT comes free with TP Smilie

There needs to be stuff you'd actually buy a Wii to play on there. I've played every single one of those games. There needs to be stuff like Sin and Punishment and Dracula X.

They will come in time, whilst you may have played every game on there not everyone will have had that chance.

Well obviously, but all of them are the most common and popular games they could ever do. There's nothing remotely interesting or obscure, and there's nothing that wasn't released worldwide.

There's nothing that makes you go Great! Now I'll be able to play that! it's all stuff that's readily available on the internet, common as dirt in second hand shops and mostly rereleased multiple times.

I think the Wii launch list is so strong they just wanna have a few titles to begin with. Sin and Punishment is something i'd love to see.

But titles like Duck Hunt and Punch Out are great titles. Hopefully the Wii-mote will be used for DH, i'll be downloading that classic on the day!

Meh, duck hunt gets old fast. Back then it was only really fun because you got to shoot a gun at the telly, just like Hang-on is only any good because you get to sit on a plastic motorbike in the arcade. With the Wii we'll be doing that all the time, so it'll just be too simple nowadays I think.

Gunstar Heroes,
Herzog Zwei,
Shadow Dancer,
Streets of Rage,
Final Fight (all of them)
Revenge of Shinobi,
Eswat,
Bionic Commando,
Contra,
Thunder Force,
Rambo (Sega Genisis)
Golden Axe

These games need to be on the VC.

I wanna see what the new games are like, but yeah it's an ok start pretty popular standerd stuff.
I'm sure it will start to form into a nice list of games eventually somthing there for everyone.

I wanted them to release ALL of them! I thought I'd be able to get any NES SNES or N64 game I want from day one.

I sure hope that games like Super Metroid & Kirby games follow soon Smilie

There's a few decent games I missed out on what I want on the Wii Virtual Console.

Here's some:

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Banjo Tooie
Perfect Dark
Super Smash T.V

And some decent NES games because ive never played or had one.
