Industry News | Two Awards for Nintendo at GDC

By Jorge Ba-oh 08.03.2007 2

The GDC Award winners took place earlier today with Nintendo scooping up two for both writing and game design in Wii titles.

For best writing, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess barged past various other top hits, including Oblivion, Bully and Sam & Max. Link's latest adventure took the Hylian to a far more solid and personal experience, with some of the best script to date in a Zelda adventure.

Surprisingly in the game design department, Wii's bundled game Wii Sports took the top spot over other strong contenders including Capcom's Okami and Rare's Viva Pinata.

A fair chunk had predicted Zelda to also be crowned with the prestigious Best Game award, however lost out to an equally stunning title, Gears of War.

Be sure to stick around for additional updates..

thats good atleast Zelda won something! and Wii Sports Smilie won against Okami WOW!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

It's a shame there, Gears of War doesn't come close to Zelda in my opinion.

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."
