Hi all,

I believe that this may warrant its own topic/debate/discussion. Straight to the point, why does the Wii U and for that matter Wii (for most of its life) have to be white? It just screams out - Casual/Cheap/etc.. to me.

I would really prefer a black/grey console as I'm not really a fan of white electricals. Besides it just doesnt go with my AV equipment either. If anything - imo - white just makes the Wii/Wii u look like a toy.

I wonder if Nintendo would consider releasing more colours at launch for the Wii U than just the boring white. i.e dark grey/ black would be welcome. Personally white isnt for me, but if Nintendo wants to attract those hardcore peeps - then would'nt it be better to get black/grey? too? Just a thought.

I'd also point out that I waited 3 years to buy a Wii in the hope that they would release a black wii. Guess what? - when I bought my white wii, Nintendo released the black one a few weeks later. ... UghSmilie

Ugh, so now the colour of the console is supposed to be a deciding factor in whether a console is hardcore or not (which is BS in the first place) too? Are people really that shallow nowadays? I can see why some would prefer different colours if they fit with their TV setup etc. or if they like those better but stop with that hardcore/casual BS. It's getting old now.

Definitely either a dark colour or another one such as blue/green etc. White just doesn't seem to work, especially when every piece of hardware is black, white stands out too much. Definitely up for some other colours though, the white/black mould needs to be broken out of. Maybe 3DS blue or something?

White doesn't make anything look like a tow, in fact, it's usually a nice finish, it's just black goes better with the stuff I have, my Wii and DS Lite are the only consoles I've had in white.

Plus, most people who call themselves hardcore gamers (most NOT all) are hardcore forum trolls who never actually seem to play games. People have always been calling Nintendo Kiddy, it's just now the internet has given them a voice, and for some stupid reason people listen to them.

I'd like to see a claret, blue or grey console as well.

I'd like to see a metallic purple Wii U with blue neon lights - as a special edition Wii U Smilie

It's funny because I always want black consoles, yet once I started seeing the white GameCube and white PS3 I really wanted them instead. To keep it consistent though, my consoles are mostly black so would prefer a black Wii U. But for sure, we should go back to the N64 days and have a multitude of colours at some point.

Bring back the transparent version!

Honestly, I don't really care much. It's what the console can do on the inside, not how it looks on the outside that counts...wow, that came out really cheesy. Anyways, I'd be fine with any color.

I guess everyone agrees that a variety of colours is good SmilieSmilieSmilie

However, I still feel - maybe its just the way things used to be - that darker colours appear to be more (I cant find the right word) ---- than white.

Not wanting to stir a controversy, I also think that since white appeals to a wider majority hence it could be deemed as casual/mass audience. Historically at least dark colours seem to appeal to a smaller audience, it could be deemed as more niche/techie/hardcore? I'm not sure if the words used are right but hope you get the idea Smilie

Blacks cool, blends in easily. Whites decent, doesn't blend well if everything else is in black. So it's understandable in a sense.

For me. Tired of straight Black & White. Make A blue, red, green, purple or something. Or a two-tone theme.

I was actually hoping for colour schemes similar to the 3DS. Would look wicked. I think White is cool, but Nintendo seems to make white look childish compared to other products out there. Just looking at the Wii U controller makes me think it's some kind of child's electronic learning device. Smilie

LOL Ifrit. I guess Nintendo should consider a colour scheme in tribute to the SNES? That would be fantastic!

So far the votes are:

11 for Black/Grey
7 for White
2 for Other

It would be nice if there was a navy blue or dark black. I have had my white Wii since the day of the launch. I don't really care what colour it is as long as it does the job. Just because it is a different colour does not make a blind bit of difference. I would like there to be more variety so Nintendo can please everyone, but if there is only going to be white, so what? There will be more colours after a few months from release, just like the Wii did.
